The objective

Promote the city as destination to visit at Christmas

Christmas in Manchester

Process:
Advertising campaign.

Application:
Print, digital, social media, outdoor and merchandise.

Inspired by Scandinavian folk-art, I illustrated this bold new look for 2019's Christmas campaign. Eight characters were created, each one depicting one of the city's offers at Christmas-time; ice skating, Christmas Markets, late-night shopping and the Christmas Light Switch-on. This is the biggest campaign I have had the privilege of working on that spans multiple channels and formats.

Animations by Clare Beard.

The characters

Each character represents an activity you can enjoy around the city centre.

The merchandise

Over 120,000 mugs were sold at the Christmas Markets, a record sell-out for that year. The design marks twenty years since the Christmas Markets first opened.

“The bold colours and strong character design made this campaign stand out compared to other advertisements.”

The feature film

Each year, we produce an emotional Christmas film which features across TV and social media. This year was equally tear jerking, following the heart-felt journey of a young girl whose only Christmas wish is to find new friends who will welcome her with open arms.

The film was was created by the hugely talented folk at Flow based in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Check out their work it’s some of the best in the business.
